On Monday, State Senator Tim Skinner (D-Terre Haute) sponsored House Concurrent Resolution 22 honoring his hometown of Terre Haute as Indiana’s 2010 Community of the Year. Authored in the House by Representatives Bob Heaton (R-Terre Haute) and Clyde Kersey (D-Terre Haute), the resolution recognizes the advancements Terre Haute has made in revitalizing their downtown area, restoring their riverwalk, and actualizing new opportunities for residents to learn, get active and raise their families.
Senator Skinner presented the resolution to his fellow senators, proud to announce that Terre Haute has become “one of the more progressive cities in the state of Indiana.”
In attendance to accept the resolution were Terre Haute Mayor Duke Bennett, Terre Haute Chamber of Commerce CEO Rod Henry, Indiana State University President Dan Bradley, Tuesday Strong from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, Ivy Tech Community College -Wabash Valley Interim Chancellor Lee Ann Crooks and St. Mary-of-the-Woods College Interim President Dr. Dottie King.
