INDIANAPOLIS—On Tuesday, Senate Bill (SB) 46 passed out of the Indiana Senate with bipartisan support. The bill, co-authored by State Senator Frank Mrvan (D-Hammond), would allow the state Alcohol and Tobacco Commission to issue new alcohol permits to local economic development areas. Sen. Mrvan offered the following comments now that the bill moves to the House of Representatives:

“I am proud to co-author this legislation to assist our cities and towns in their economic development endeavors.

“I am very impressed with the work that is being done in and around Centennial Park in Munster. I know that allowing these new permits will help to aid the economic development entity in enhancing the park’s reputation as a destination for more attractions and ultimately more visitors to the area.”
